Directions

Fingle Bridge is pretty well known and easily found on a map but in broad terms you take the A30 towards Okehampton, Turn off for Cheriton Bishop and Castle Drogo. Pass through Cheriton bishop and then at Crockernwell turn left for Drewsteignton. This is a single track road for the most part. Don’t be afraid of the narrow access to Drewstegnton: buses use this road! Cross the square to turn left for Fingle Bridge. Follow this road until you find us. If you get to the bridge turn around and come back about 400 yards!!

Additional Information

This is a favourite walk of ours. The start is very steep and seems to go on for ever,( but doesn’t!!) however your reward is the view and the remaining walk to Chagford is gently downhill and very easy going eventually coming down to the river and passing through woodland beside the river Teign. We’ll probably have lunch in the churchyard at Chagford where Anthea's Great Grandmother is buried. The return walk is mostly level and beside the river which we cross near the turbine house.
